Back on tap: St. Louis Framboise (Raspberry/ Fruit Beer) – Brouwerij Van Honsebrouck N.V. 4.5% st louis framABV
Brewer’s Notes:
This framboise has a simple and straightforward character – not unlike the humble summer fruit with which it is flavored. Erring not on the side of cloying sweetness of sugary saccharined tutti-frutti candies, this brew sticks to something more vial – the market-fresh taste and sweetness of ripened ruby raspberries. With a characteristic limbic funk midway the St. Louis Premium is as stalwart and stoic as the king for whom it was named. Aiming not at pretense and frivolity, the raspberry flavor is neither overly sour nor sickly sweet, its body neither obtrusively heavy nor ephemerally light – it is in sort a perfectly concocted fresh fruit Belgian lambic.

Just tapped: Classic Saison – Blackberry Farm Brewery 6% ABVClassic Saison
Brewer’s Notes:
This is a Belgian-style farmhouse ale. The aroma is dominated by fruity esters reminiscent of citrus fruits along with a moderate earthy and floral hop aroma from the use of Noble-type hops in the brewing process. Has a deep gold, hue that is often hazy, and a voluminous head on pouring as a result of the bottle-conditioning and high natural carbonation. The beer is medium-bodied and has a very refreshing effervescence which, along with a fairly low alcohol content of 6% by volume, makes this a beer to be enjoyed on a warm day by itself or with a wide range of foods, whether casual or fine dining. Complex flavors and aromas in this beer are a result of the special yeast used in fermentation combined with the additional complexity added by bottle-conditioning in large bottles for at least six weeks before being released.

Just tapped: Strawberry Harvest Lager – Abita Brewing Co. 4.2% ABVstraw lager

Brewer’s Notes:
Strawberry Harvest Lager is a wheat beer made with real Louisiana strawberries, picked late in the season when they’re at their sweetest. This brew has earned quite a reputation in a short time, causing the brewery to up their production year after year. When this brew is found, emails and phone calls fly to friends informing them of the store’s location. Strawberry Harvest is a crisp, light lager with just a hint of strawberry sweetness.

Back on tap: Invasion Pale Ale – Cigar City Brewing 5% ABVinvasion

Brewer’s Notes:
The people of Tampa Bay have fallen prey to Pirate invasion every year for well over 100 years. After more than a century of failing to repel these seafaring raiders in their anachronistic wooden ships, despite access to modern sea, land and air arsenals that ostensibly should make short work of wind powered vessels equipped with naught but cast iron cannons and raging scurvy, it occurred to the folks of Cigar City Brewing that if you can’t beat them start saying Arrrr Matey! And so we have brewed Invasion Pale Ale, a citrusy and tropical session beer brewed for those long days of marauding, pillaging and pirating. Cheers!

Just tapped: Terrapin Liquid Bliss Peanut Butter Porter – Terrapin Beer Company 6.10% ABVliq bliss

Brewer’s Notes:
We always love a good experimental brew here at Terrapin, but the salty-sweet combo of peanuts and chocolate has us all salivating a little more than usual. This brew, while smooth and mellow, still manages to challenge your tastebuds. The porter base is dark and smooth, with enough backbone to support the richer chocolate and peanut butter additions. It’s even dry “peanuted” with brewery-boiled green peanuts! Here’s to the candy-loving kid in all of us!

1349 surlyJust tapped: Surly Brewing / Lervig Brewing Collab 1349 Black Ale – Surly Brewing Company 13.49% ABV

Brewer’s Notes:
1349 Black Ale and Pale Ale were brewed in collaboration with a Norwegian brewery Lervig Aktiebryggeri and the Norwegian black metal band 1349.

In 2010, 1349 toured the U.S. and some of the Surly crew saw the Minneapolis show. Surly-logoConversations following that show led to a collaboration beer, but it took nearly two years to find the Norwegian brewery partner, Lervig, that is based in Stavanger on the Southwest coast of Norway. Once the brewery was found, both a Black Ale and a Pale Ale were collaboratively brewed.
